Soft Launch
An SPH Experience by SaltyIsland1008.
I’ve started this post four times, and that’s the only sentence that survives every draft, so I’m just going to leave it up top like a headline and try to build the rest of the confession underneath it.
First, the numbers, because the numbers are the entire story. One and a half inches soft. Four inches hard — and that’s on a good day, with the stars aligned and my wife in a generous mood. I’m 33. My wife Nadia is 30. We’ve been married four years, together eight, and somewhere around year two our sex life quietly reorganized itself around the fact that what I carry in my boxers is, by any honest measurement, decorative.
Nadia goes out. I fund it. That’s the arrangement, and it works for both of us in a way I’ve stopped pretending to be embarrassed about. When she’s on a night out, my phone becomes a little vending machine — she taps, I pay, and occasionally she asks for something else. A photo. A specific photo. Of a specific part of me. And I send it, every time, because the alternative is her not asking, and I’ve learned that her not asking feels worse.
Last night was meant to be a normal one. Girls’ night — her best friend Dana, plus her mum, Colleen, who rarely goes out and had declared this her big evening. Wine bar, then cocktails.
The first request came at 8:15. First round’s on you, baby. $40. I sent it. Got back a photo of the three of them toasting, Colleen doing a peace sign like a teenager.
8:50. Shots. $60. Sent. Another toast photo.
9:30. Taxi money, we’re moving venues. Sent. By now I’d spent $140, and I was sitting home alone in sweatpants, half-hard in that anticipatory way, waiting for whatever came next.
At 10:40, it came.
Send me a pic of it. Soft. Right now.
I know better than to hesitate. I went to the bathroom, pulled my boxers down, and looked at it — really looked — the way she’d be looking in about ninety seconds—one and a half inches. A little pink nub sitting on my balls as it had nowhere to be. I took the photo with my thumb next to it for scale, because she likes scale, and sent it.
Her reply took thirty seconds and consisted of four crying-laughing emojis and “it’s SO small.” My pinky is putting in more work than that thing.
I assumed that was the end of the exchange. Her eyes only. That was the understanding — that thread was ours.
At 11:50: Now hard. Show me all four of your big inches lol.
I stood in the bathroom and worked myself up, which took longer than I’d like to admit with the nerves, and photographed the result. Four inches, straining, the whole family fortune in one frame. Sent.
Aw. It’s trying so hard. Goodnight, little guy.
I went to bed humiliated and hard and alone, and I fell asleep before she got home. That was my mistake. I missed the part where everything changed.
—
She woke me coming in around 1:20, all perfume and wine and a giggle she was failing to swallow. She sat on the edge of the bed and looked at me in the dark like a kid holding a secret that’s physically hurting her.
“Something happened tonight, baby.”
My stomach dropped through the floor. “What?”
“So.” She kicked off her heels. “Mum wanted to see pictures of Dana’s engagement dress from the group chat. So I handed her my phone.”
I knew instantly. You know instantly, when it’s your life.
“And the thread was open,” she said. “And the last thing in the thread was—” she gestured at my crotch, at the general concept of me— “that. Full screen. One and a half inches of my husband, in high definition, on a phone my mother was holding.”
I made a sound that wasn’t a word.
“She stared at it for a full three seconds. Then she looked up at me. And we just—” Nadia lost it, right there on the bed, snorting, covering her mouth. “We just looked at each other and laughed. Like, properly laughed. Dana leaned over to see what was happening and then it was all three of us crying in the booth.”
“What did she—” My voice came out strange. “What did she say?”
“Oh, she had notes.” Nadia counted on her fingers, delighted, reliving it. “First she said, ‘Is that it?’ Then she said, ‘Is he cold?’ Then — and this is my favorite — she said, ‘That’s not a willy, love, that’s a thumb with a heartbeat.'”
I lay there burning and burning from the scalp down. And underneath the burning, in a shame-signal my body has long since stopped fighting, I was getting hard. Nadia’s eyes traveled down the duvet, and she saw the tent — a small tent, a pup tent, a two-man-at-most tent — and she laughed again, softer.
“You’re hard right now. You’re actually hard. My mother laughed at your dick, and you got hard.” She flipped the duvet back and pulled my boxers down, and there it was, all four inches of me, leaking already, twitching under her gaze. “Look at it. My mum has seen this. My mum has held it in her hand — the photo, I mean — and she laughed, and you’re just going to lie there dripping about it.”
“There’s more,” she said, and I honestly didn’t think there could be more. “Because then Mum asked the question.”
“What question?”
“‘Does it get any bigger?'”
I closed my eyes. “Nadia. You didn’t.”
“I did.” No shame. Not a gram of it. “I swiped and showed her the hard one. And she held the phone at arm’s length like she was reading a menu, and she went—” Nadia dropped into a scarily accurate impression of her mother’s warm, tipsy voice— “‘That’s the hard one? That’s it working its hardest?’ And then she said, ‘Well, thank God you married him for his personality, love, because nobody’s marrying him for that.'”
She wrapped two fingers around me while she talked. Two fingers. That’s the whole circumference conversation right there, and she knows it, and she used exactly two, stroking slow while she delivered the rest of the autopsy.
“Mum asked what you do bring to the table. I said your tongue’s fine. She said, ‘Well, thank God for that, because that’s not filling anyone.’ And then Dana — Dana, who I now have to see at the wedding — goes, ‘Wait, so it’s like, a clit with a pulse?’ and Mum laughed so hard she knocked over her Prosecco.”
I came at “Prosecco.” I’d like to say I lasted, that I put up some resistance. Still, the truth is my wife’s two fingers and her mother’s voice coming out of her mouth had me gone in under a minute, hips bucking, spilling over her knuckles while Nadia watched me with fond, clinical amusement.
“Under a minute,” she said, examining her hand. “Even your dick knows it’s a joke.”
Then she did the thing that’s going to keep me awake for the rest of my natural life. She took out her phone, photographed the evidence — my softening dick, already shrinking back toward its one and a half inch resting state, lying in a puddle of my own finish — and typed with one thumb.
“Who are you—” I started.
“Mum asked if it goes back to sleep after. I’m confirming.”
She hit send. I watched the little delivery tick appear. Then, thirty seconds later, the reply: a single crying-laughing emoji, followed by—
Aww, it’s gone back to bed. Bless him. See you Sunday, love! xxx
See you Sunday.
—
Her mother is coming to our flat for dinner on Sunday. I’m going to have to open the door to this woman. Shake her hand, possibly. Pass her the potatoes. Make conversation about the weather while knowing — while she knows that I know that she knows — that she has seen my dick soft, seen it hard, watched it leak, watched it shrink, and found the entire four-inch saga hilarious enough to spill her drink.
Nadia says her mum will “probably behave” at dinner. She said “probably” with a smile I’m going to be thinking about all week. She also said, this morning, hungover and merciless over coffee, that her mum’s parting line at the bar was, “Size doesn’t matter, Nadia — but honestly, don’t tell him that, this is much funnier.”
So here’s where I stand, twenty-four hours later. I spent $140 funding a night out that ended with three women in a wine bar booth reviewing my penis like a disappointing tasting menu. My mother-in-law has my measurements on file. My wife’s best friend now refers to me, in her head and possibly out loud, as “clit with a pulse.” And the worst part — the part I can’t put anywhere except this page — is that I’ve jerked off twice today replaying the moment Nadia said we just looked at each other and laughed.
One and a half inches soft. Four hard. And as of last night, my mother-in-law can personally verify every number.
Sunday’s dinner is at seven. I’ve been told to wear the tight jeans.
The End.
